Da Vinci Riders

Da Vinci Riders

A cohort of cyclists who enjoy a regular group ride on Tuesday evenings, starting and ending at Da Vinci Ristorante in North Adelaide.

The Route

There are two routes in use, both following the same major roads but in opposite directions. The course diagram shows the 'slow' route. Rides depart strictly at the times indicated, with most riders arriving back at Da Vinci by 7:45pm.

'Fast' — avg 35kph or more, clockwise, depart 5:55pm

Riders make their way westward on Brougham Place, right into Australia Lane, left onto Ward St, north on Hill St and Mills Tce and right onto War Memorial Drive, then left onto Park Terrace. Crossing Port Rd, continue west on Adam St then turn onto Manton St and Grange Road to the beach, turning at the roundabout on Military Road. Head north to Bower Road then left and right onto the seafront and continue to Outer Harbour. Return via Victoria Road, Port Road, Park Terrace and War Memorial Drive.

'Slow' — avg 32kph, anticlockwise, depart 5:55pm

Riders make their way westward on Brougham Place, right into Australia Lane, then zig-zag via Walter St, Archer St, Wellington Square and Molesworth St to Hill St and Mills Tce. Turning right onto War Memorial Drive, continue across Park Tce to Hawker St, across the railway line then left onto Chief St and turn right at Port Road. The ride continues out Port Rd to Old Port Road all the way to Church St. Follow Church St to Nelson St, across the Birkenhead Bridge and up Victoria Road to Outer Harbour. Return via the seafront to Bower Road, Military Road, Grange Road, Manton St, Park Tce and War Memorial Drive.

'Casual' — <32kph, anticlockwise, depart 5:45pm

These riders follow the same route as the 'Slow' group but take things a bit easier. It's a popular ride for those who have been off the bike for a while.

If the course looks familiar, you might recognise it from the Scuzzi Ride which ran for 20 years from Scuzzi Cafe on Tynte St. The owners retired in 2019 and Scuzzi is no more.
